Is therapy for me?

There is no straightforward answer— and I'm going to offer you three:
1. Yes.
I think everyone, at some point in their lives, finds themselves needing to talk through something that feels troubling, overwhelming, or difficult to process. Having a space to reflect, unravel, and explore with someone who can offer support and guidance can be very valuable.
2. The only way to truly know is to try.
We can talk about what counselling looks like, what it involves, and what it can or cannot do — but ultimately, it’s what you experience in this safe space that matters most, when you’re connecting with another human being and exploring who you are.
That doesn’t mean it will always feel easy or comfortable. But you may notice a part of you thinking or feeling, “This is good for me.”
3. Am I the right counsellor for you?
This is an important question. One of the foundations of my work is the belief that the relationship between therapist and client is essential for the therapy to work — and for healing to happen.
It might not feel quite right from the beginning (though it might!), but after a few sessions, you’ll start to get a sense of whether you want to continue working together or not. And whichever way you decide — that’s absolutely okay.
At the same time, if I feel that my skills or competences aren’t the right match for your needs, I’ll say so — because what matters most to me is that you get the support that truly helps. If I’m not the right person, I will help you find a practitioner who is.
You are not signing an unbreakable contract. You are free to stop at any time. That said, counselling does need to be given a chance.
If you're curious about how counselling might support you — or simply want to see how it feels to talk — you're very welcome to get in touch, I offer a free first consultation. Think of it as a starting point, not a decision set in stone.
I’d be happy to hear from you.
